Joe Burrow and Bengals Focus on Offensive Identity

In Cincinnati, the Bengals have Joe Burrow in shotgun again after taking reps under center. After experimenting with Burrow under center, the team reverted to a more familiar shotgun formation amidst struggles in the ground game. Despite these adjustments, they are still sorting out the offense as they prepare for an upcoming game against the struggling Miami Dolphins. Offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher emphasized the importance of refining their plays without abandoning them to establish a clearer team identity moving forward.

Recent games have highlighted the Bengals’ challenges. They’ve been relying heavily on the pass, particularly after a disheartening 22-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following this defeat, Burrow expressed a need for more balance in their attack, particularly enhancing the run game which faltered significantly against one of the NFL’s strongest run defenses. His commitment to improvement under center remained steadfast, highlighting the importance of a respectable run game for effective play-action strategies.

This weekend’s matchup against the Dolphins, who are currently one of the lower-ranked teams in terms of points allowed per drive, may offer the Bengals a chance to refine and execute their offensive strategies more convincingly. Head Coach Zac Taylor and Pitcher remain focused on scoring points and making tactical decisions that steer the team towards success. More Cincinnati Bengals coverage is at betkentuckysports.com.
